Notes:
The Raman and infrared spectra of pimelic acid, (CH2)5[COOH (D)]2, and its potassium salts in aqueous solution were recorded from 4000 to 200 cm-1. The two salts belong to the Cs symmetry point group whereas the acid has C1 symmetry. These results are similar to those found previously for lower alkanedloic acids with an odd number of carbon atoms, namely glutaric acid, (CH2)3(COOH)2, and malonic acid, CH2(COOH)2.
