    Notes: Palustridine (I, C18H31N3O3), which co-occurs with palustrine in Equisetum palustre L., has been shown to be Nb-formyl-palustrine. Hydrolysis with dilute mineral acid yields palustrine, and formylation of the latter gives palustridine. The mass spectral fragmentation pattern differs from that of palustrine, and is very similar to that of Nb-acetylpalustrine. The earlier proposed skeleton of palustrine is independently confirmed.

    Notes: Reversible 1,2 and 1,3 acyl migrations with retention of configuration are shown to occur in 2-hydroxy-3,4-diamino-pentane. In 2-hydroxy-3,4-bis(acetylamino)-pentane, where 1,2 and 1,3 migration of like acyl groupe compete, the former reaction was the only one observed. In 2-hydroxy-3-benzoylamino-4-acetylamino-pentane, where 1,2 benzoyl migration competes with 1,3 acetyl migration, the latter predominated.

    Notes: With a view to prepare titanium tetra-acetate, the reaction between titanium tetrachloride and a mixture of acetic acid and acetic anhydride has been investigated in detail. It has been shown that the reaction in cold yielded pure crystalline dichloride di-acetate of titanium. On refluxing the reaction mixture, decomposition reactions occurred, yielding basic titanium derivatives of the type .

    Notes: A rapid amperometric method for the determination of vanadium (V) has been described which involves titration of vanadium (V) as sodium orthovanadate against copper sulphate solution at Ede = - 0.20 V (vs S.C.E.). The accuracy and reproducability of the method is excellent particularly at higher temperature i.e. at 60°C. The method permits the determination of vanadium (V) down to 0.2 mM with an accuracy 1.0%).

    Notes: Die Additionen von Jodthiocyanat (JSCN), 2,4-Dinitrobenzolsulfenylchlorid (ArSCl) und Nitrosylchlorid (NOCl) an Olefine verschiedener Strukturtypen wurden teils durch maßanalytische Verfolgung der Konzentrationen, teils durch gaschromatographische Auswertung von Konkurrenzreaktionen kinetisch untersucht. Die Reaktionen sind untereinander und mit der Brom-Addition verwandt. Die Additionsgeschwindigkeiten von JSCN, ArSCl und NOCl an kernsubstituierte Styrole geben eine gute Korrelation mit der HAMMETT-Gleichung, die Additionsgeschwindigkeiten an offenkettige aliphatische Olefine folgen der TAFT-Gleichung befriedigend. Die relativen Reaktionsgeschwindigkeiten von cis/trans-isomeren Olefinen sowie die von Cycloolefinen werden diskutiert. Offenbar läßt sich aus kinetischen Daten allein nicht sicher ableiten, ob der Übergangszustand elektrophiler Olefin-Additionen einem offenkettigen Carbeniumion, einem verbrückten. Ion oder einem Vierring ähnlich ist. Die Additionsgeschwindigkeiten von Quecksilberacetat (Hg(OAc)2) an Olefine zeigen eine völlig andere Abhängigkeit von der Struktur des Substrats als die Additionsgeschwindigkeiten von Br2, JSCN, ArSCl und NOCl.
