Abstract: This book is the first comprehensive compilation of deliberations on domestication, genetic and genomic resources, breeding, genetic diversity, molecular maps & mapping of important biotic stress as well as nutritional quality traits, genome sequencing, comparative genomics, functional genomics and genetic transformation. The economic, nutritional and health benefits especially antioxidants mediated antiaging effects of finger millet are also discussed. It also presents the input use efficiency, wide adaptation, post-harvest processing and value addition of the crop. Altogether, the book contains about 300 pages over 16 chapters authored by globally reputed experts on the relevant field in this crop. This book is useful to the students, teachers and scientists in the academia and relevant private companies interested in genetics, pathology, molecular genetics and breeding, genetic engineering, structural and functional genomics and nutritional quality aspects of the crop. This book is also useful to seed and pharmaceutical industries.

Description / Table of Contents: Nanocarriers for delivery of peptide antibiotics -- NANOMEDICINES FOR THE PULMONARY DELIVERY OF ANTIBIOTICS -- Inhalable nanomedicines for the treatment of pulmonary aspergillosis -- Nanomedicines for the treatment of systemic candidiasis -- Nanomedicine for the treatment of vaginal candidiasis -- Nanomedicines for the treatment of veterinary parasitic infections -- Role of Nanotechnology Against Malaria: Current Perspectives and Strategies -- NANOMEDICINES FOR THE TREATMENT OF TRYPANOSOMIASIS -- Nanomedicines to improve oral delivery of antiretroviral drugs -- Nano-Adjuvants -- Nanoscale Vaccines for Influenza -- Nano-scale vaccines for the prevention of hepatitis B virus infection -- Nanoscale Vaccines for the Prevention of COVID-19.
Abstract: The COVID-19 pandemic has altered the world and reiterated the perpetual need for the development of effective strategies for the prevention and treatment of infectious diseases. While globally prevalent infectious diseases receive extensive attention in terms of drug development and delivery, the neglected and/or emerging infectious diseases that affect developing countries are often overlooked. From the commercialization of AmBisome® to the emergency authorization of mRNA-based vaccines, nanotechnology has played a vital role in the prevention and treatment of infectious diseases. More importantly, nanotechnology has enabled the effective utilization of existing armamentarium against infectious diseases leading to improved therapeutic outcomes with a concomitant reduction in the side effects associated with anti-infective agents. In particular, nanotechnology can bring about a paradigm shift in the management of neglected and emerging infectious diseases and may compensate for the lack of drug discovery efforts. This book addresses an unmet need in pharmaceutical and medical education. This book provides a comprehensive and up-to-date overview of the latest advancements in nanomedicine, which show great potential for preventing and treating infectious diseases. Covering a wide range of topics, it explores various formulation strategies for combating microbial, fungal, parasitic, and viral infections. The book emphasizes the advantages of nano-scale vaccines over traditional ones and discusses their production. It also examines feasible treatment approaches for diseases like malaria, trypanosomiasis, candidiasis, Hepatitis B, HIV, and the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Additionally, it highlights the role of nano-adjuvants in vaccine development, as well as the use of peptide antibiotics and pulmonary delivery of drugs, which open up new possibilities in fighting infectious diseases. Furthermore, the book explores the critical role of nanomedicine in addressing veterinary parasitic infections. The emergence of nanotechnology has led to novel strategies for diagnosing, treating, and preventing parasitic infections in animals.

Description / Table of Contents: Demography -- Incentives -- Urban Design -- Education -- Collaborative Governance.
Abstract: This book attempts to advance critical knowledge and practices for fostering a variety of entrepreneurship at a city level. The book aims to connect scholarship and policy practice in two disciplines: Urban Studies and Entrepreneurship. The book has included contributions from developed, emerging, and developing countries. The chapters are clubbed under five main sections; I. Startups and Entrepreneurial Opportunities, II. Knowledge Spillover, III. Social and Bureaucratic Entrepreneurialism, IV. Demography and Informal Entrepreneurs V. Perspectives from Emerging and Developing Economies. In this regard, the book explores a number of questions, such as: what are the important varieties of entrepreneurship, how can they be observed and measured, and how does each variety emerge and operate under various conditions of infrastructure and opportunity? Which type(s) of entrepreneurship should a city prefer? What can cities do to stimulate desirable forms of entrepreneurship or is it more of a spontaneous phenomenon? Why do policies that enhance entrepreneurship in some contexts seem instead to promote crony capitalism and rent-seeking in other contexts? Should cities focus on growing their own entrepreneurs and entrepreneurial enterprises or on luring them from other cities and countries? How can a collective action in a city promote (or hinder) entrepreneurship? The contributions in the present volume address head-on these questions at the intersection of urban studies, economic theory, and the practicalities of economic development and urban governance, in a genuinely global range of places and applications.

Abstract: This need-based unique book deals exclusively with water buffalo (Bubalus bubalis) meat to provide much needed information to thousands of buffalo meat processors across the world. The information provided in this first-of-its-kind book on buffalo meat quality, nutritional characteristics, safety, and processing can be utilized by buffalo meat producers and meat processors for the advancement of the buffalo meat sector. It also provides valuable information to faculty members, students, researchers, and all other readers interested in this new source of meat. Owing to the limited research and scientific literature available on buffalo meat, the authors’ own research findings and our experiences were included wherever required to give crisp, practical, and complete information. The information proposed in this book should be beneficial to the entire buffalo industry, from the farming and processing of buffaloes to the marketing of products. This serve as a handy guide to meat scientists, faculty members, and students willing to learn more about buffalo meat processing. Up-to-date relevant references were also included for the benefit of researchers and students to enable them to easily access further information. Above all, it provides valuable information to consumers who are interested to know this new and potential source of meat.
