The structure (R=0.029 for 3190 MoKα data) is composed of two-dimensional networks of edge-sharing 1∶5∶3 coordination polyhedra matching the (020) set of planes, each La(III) atom being surrounded by threeη 4 chelating oxalate groups and three aqua ligands with La-O distances in the range 2.518(4)–2.622(4) Å. The remaining water molecules are disordered over seven principal sites in the intervening space.

    Notes: Abstract A constitutive model for cyclic plasticity is briefly outlined. Then the model is implemented in a finite element code to predict the response of cyclic loaded structural components such as a double-edge-notched plate, a grove bar and a nozzle in spherical shell. Comparision with results from other theories and experiments shows that the results obtained by using the present model are very satisfactory.

    Notes: Abstract The NTFB genes from two major histocomptibility complex (MHC) ancestral haplotypes have been compared. The genes carried by the ancestral haplotypes 8.1 (A1,B8,BfS,C4AQ0, C4B1,DR3) and 57.1 (A1,B57, BfS,C4A6,C4B1,DR7) were cloned and sequenced to determine the degree of polymorphism. In this report we show that the r e spective TNF genes are allelic and have unique nucleotide sequences. The data demonstrate the presence of three nucleotide differences between the TNFB alleles of 8.1 and 57.1. Two of the differences occur in untranslated regions of the gene but the third nucleotide change results in amino acid differences in the mature TNFB protein. These polymorphisms may have implications with respect to differential regulation in disease-and nondisease-associated haplotypes.

    Notes: Abstract On July 28, 1976, a major earthquake (M=7.9) occurred in the Tangshan region of China. After the earthquake, it was found that astronomical time-latitude anomalies were observed preceeding the occurrence of the earthquake. These observations had been obtained on the Astrolabe of the Beijing Astronomical Observatory and the VZT of Tianjin Latitide Station, which are just located around the epicentre. The anomalies were in the analyses of the time and latitude residuals, and there are more examples verifying these phenomena. However, all those examples were found in post-earthquake analyses. In this paper we discuss the possibility of earthquake prediction and forecast from the rediduals of astronomical time-latitude. For example, series of the five-day means are analyzed. The observations were supposed to be terminated two weeks before the earthquake, and the data are then analyzed a year backward. After removing their averages, the standard deviations are calculated of these series are calculation. Eight earthquakes were chosen as the events to be examined, (see Table). Most of the related instruments obtained excellent observations. The results are shown in the Figure. It is evident that abnormal peaks of RT and RF appeared before each earthquake. Thus we may conclude the followings: (1) Under the normal observation conditions, one high predision instruments could inform about a major earthquake a few weeks or a few days before it occurrs. (2) The astronomical observations are seriously affected by the weather and observers and so they are some what uncertain.

The existence and the estimates of solutions for the finite difference system are established by the fixed point technique. The absolute and relative stability and convergence of difference schemes are justified by means of a series of a prior estimates. In the present study, the existence of unique smooth solution of the original problem is assumed. The similar results for nonlinear and quasilinear pseudo-hyperbolic systems are also obtained.

    Notes: Summary The in vitro myelotoxic potentials of three investigational antitumor agents, Fostriecin, Hepsulfam and pyrazine diazohydroxide (PZDH), were evaluated utilizing clonogenic assays. Human and murine marrow cells were exposed to each drug for 1 hr prior to culture in microcapillary (human) or Petri dish (murine) assays. Fostriecin (0.22–220 μM), Hepsulfam (0.34–340 μM) and PZDH (0.68–680 μM) inhibited myeloid (CFU-gm), erythroid (BFU-e, CFU-e) and megakaryocytic (CFU-meg) colony formation in a concentration-dependent manner. CFU-e from both species were more sensitive to Fostriecin than the other progenitors and murine cells more sensitive overall to Fostriecin than their human counterparts. Murine CFU-e were also more sensitive to Hepsulfam than human CFU-e, with CFU-gm and BFU-e being similarly affected in both species. Human BFU-e were greatly inhibited by PZDH, whereas murine BFU-e were relatively resistant to its toxic effects. Fostriecin was the most toxic of the three antitumor agents, with PZDH the least toxic.

    Notes: Abstract In this paper we study the room-temperature infrared transmission spectra (400–1600cm−1) and far-infrared diffuse reflection spectra (50–450cm−1) in Pb-doped Bi−Sr−Ca−Cu−O (2223) single phase (Tc=107k, sp1), multiphase (Tc=110k, sp2) and nonsuperconducting samples (sp3). The spectral features in superconductor are totally different from those in nonsuperconductor, which show the different crystal structure. The correlation existing between a factor group analysis of the phonons in (2223) and (2212) compounds affords a tentative assignment of ir-active modes in Pb-doped (2223) single phase by comparison with reported data in (2212) materials. The Cu−O stretching Eu vibration (605cm−1) of CuO2 layers is the characteristic vibrational mode related perovskitelike crystal structures. Two phonon coupling effect emerges in the infrared transmission spectra in Pb-doped superconductor. The Ca−O vibration A2u (254cm−1) might be related to superconductivity of Bi-based family.

    Notes: Abstract According to the angular-spectrum method, a radiation beam of an antenna horn in the Fresnal region is decomposed into the plane waves with the fast Fourier transform algorithm and the waves diffracted from a reflection grating are superposed as a diffracted beam. Compared with the reflected beam from the same size mirror, the radiation half width of the diffracted beam from a grating is narrower and its lateral shape is shift. These performances have been experimentally verified at Ka-band by: (1). The relative diffraction efficiencies in the first order with two triangular gratings which is put along propagating direction of a beam produced by a conical lens-horn. (2). H-plane lateral width with power—3dB lapsed of the focus beam from a grating and a mirror in a grating spectrometer for millimeter waves (25–100 GHz).
