Summary The material of a collection trip to Moravia and Slovakia, already having been dealt with shortly earlier (Hanelt andHammer 1975), has been analyzed botanically by studying the original samples as well as their progenies grown up in 1975. The material represents indigenous land races mostly which are often very variable phenotypically; their area of cultivation decreases very rapidly. Primitive types or relic cultigens especially worth mentioning areTriticum dicoccon, Avena nuda, Hordeum vulgare with naked grains,Secale cereale var.multicaule, Papaver somniferum with small shattering capsules,Cicer arietinum, Lathyrus sativus andCarthamus tinctorius. Further distinct local types could be observed within the populations ofTriticum aestivum, Hordeum vulgare, Secale cereale, Avena sativa, Brassica oleracea, Papaver somniferum, Pisum sativum, Phaseolus spp.,Vicia faba andLactuca sativa. The collection is characterized by a considerable number of medicinal and spice plants too. The mountaineous areas of Slovakia can be recognized as an important refugial region for indigenous taxa of many cultivated plants which may be also interesting for breeding purposes.
Abstract:
Notes:
An Primitivformen oder Reliktkultur-Sippen verdienen besondere ErwähnungTriticum dicoccon, Avena nuda, nacktkörnigesHordeum vulgare, Secale cereale var.multicaule, kleinfrüchtige Schüttmohne (Papaver somniferum), Cicer arietinum, Lathyrus sativus undCarthamus tinctorius.
