    Description / Table of Contents: Summary: The present paper contains a critical study of a number of foundation models suggested by various investigators, as well as a further development of some of the ideas involved. It is found that the model by Pasternak is the most natural extension of the Winkler foundation. It is also shown that the "non-solvability" of the problem of a finite bean or plate resting on a continuous foundation as posed by Wieghardt and further elaborated by Pflanz is not correct, and that problems of this type are solvable for any load distribution permissible in classical plate theory. The paper concludes with derivations of differential equations for plates resting on viscous and viscoelastic foundations, which may be used for solving problems involving compacted snow and permafrost bases.

    Description / Table of Contents: Abstract Understanding the sedimentary and geophysical archive of glaciated margins is a complex task that requires integration and analysis of disparate sedimentological and geophysical data. Their analysis is vital for understanding the dynamics of past ice sheets and how they interact with their neighbouring marine basins, on timescales that cannot be captured by observations of the cryosphere today. As resources, sediments deposited on the inner margins of glaciated shelves also exhibit resource potential where more sand-dominated systems occur, acting as reservoirs for both hydrocarbons and water. This book surveys the full gamut of glaciated margins, from deep time (Neoproterozoic, Ordovician and Carboniferous–Permian) to modern high-latitude margins in Canada and Antarctica. This collection of papers is the first attempt to deliberately do this, allowing not only the similarities and differences between modern and ancient glaciated margins to be explored, but also the wide spectrum of their mechanisms of investigation to be probed. Together, these papers offer a high-resolution, spatially and temporally diverse blueprint of the depositional processes, ice sheet dynamics, and basin architectures of the world's former glaciated margins; a vital resource in advancing understanding of our present and future marine-terminating ice sheet margins.

В отличие от указанной работы в наотоящей основное внимание обращено на глубинное строение земной коры, недоступное в большинстве случаев для исследований о6ычными геологическими методами. В монографии приведена схема рельефа кристаллического основания, охнатывающая восточную часть Сибирской платформы и южную половину Верхояно-Чукотской складчатой области. Для этой же территории даны схемы рельефа поверхностей Конрада и Мохоровичича. Подробно изложена методика построений указанных поверхностей раздела земной коры. Рассмотрено строение основных структурных элементов чехла и их соотношение с глубинным строением. Впервые на рассматриваемой территории глубинные разломы систематизированы по возрасту и глубине заложения, дано их подробное орисание. С учетом новых геолого-геофизических данных рассмотрена история тектонического развития территории Якутии в докембрии, нижнем и среднем палеозое.
    Description / Table of Contents: Translation of the abstract: This work is a continuation of the monograph "Tectonic Structure of the Yakutek ASSR" written by the same group of authors and published in 1964. In contrast to this work, the main attention is paid to the deep structure of the earth's crust, which is inaccessible in most cases for studies by conventional geological methods. The monograph presents a relief scheme of the crystalline base covering the eastern part of the Siberian Platform and the southern half of the Verkhoyansk-Chukotka folded region. For the same territory, the relief schemes of the Konrad and Mohorovichic surfaces are given. The technique for constructing the indicated interfaces of the earth's crust is described in detail. The structure of the main structural elements of the cover and their relationship with the deep structure are considered. For the first time in the territory under consideration, deep faults are systematized by age and depth of occurrence, and their detailed description is given. Taking into account new geological and geophysical data, the history of the tectonic development of the territory of Yakutia in the Precambrian, Lower and Middle Paleozoic is considered.
