Marinobufagin, which has the formula C24H32O5, is a 3,5-dihydroxysteroid on the basis of chemical evidence. β-Orientation of the C-5 HO-group can be deduced from molecular rotation differences between Marinobufagin and some of its derivatives. The spatial arrangement of the HO-group at C-3 is most probably the same1. Marinobufagin contains no tertiary hydroxyl at C-14 and the fifth oxygen-atom of this genin must be located in an oxide-ring of unknown size, about which no precise statements can be made.
