    Description: Hans Werner Henze und Ingeborg Bachmann verband über Jahre eine enge und produktive Künstlerfreundschaft. Im Blick auf die sechs zwischen 1953 und 1965 entstandenen gemeinsamen Arbeiten fällt der permanente Wechsel des Genres ins Auge, der für jedes Werk neue und andersartige Interdependenzen von Musik und Sprache (und Szene) hervorbringt. Der Text führt dieses Interesse für komplexe mediale Strukturen auf ästhetische Konzepte zurück, die Bachmann und Henze um 1960 in enger Zusammenarbeit entwickeln und dabei im Kern eine Intermedial-Ästhetik formulieren. Mit Lacan gelesen, geben diese Konzepte den ausführlichen Analysen der sechs Werke eine gemeinsame, medientheoretisch profilierte Perspektive.

    Description: Trauma has become a hotly contested topic in literary studies. But interest in trauma is not new; its roots extend to the Romantic period, when novelists and the first psychiatrists influenced each others' investigations of the 'wounded mind'. This book looks back to these early attempts to understand trauma, reading a selection of Romantic novels in dialogue with Romantic and contemporary psychiatry. It then carries that dialogue forward to postmodern fiction, examining further how empirical approaches can deepen our theorizations of trauma. Within an interdisciplinary framework, this study reveals fresh insights into the poetics, politics, and ethics of trauma fiction.

Gemeinhin wird damit eine »Freiheit der Entscheidung« bezeichnet - uneingeschränkte Bevorzugung des einen vor dem anderen. Dies gilt nur vordergründig, da jede Wahl sich notwendig auf eine Unterscheidung stützt: Nur was zuvor Bedeutung gewinnt (als wählbar erscheint), kann nachträglich als Wahlversprechen gelten. Wie nicht zuletzt der Beitrag von Niklas Luhmann verdeutlicht, ist hier ein Paradox am Werk: Die »Freiheit der Wahl« braucht eine Einschränkung - und erhält damit Selektionscharakter. Sie beinhaltet ein (Aus-)Gewähltes und ein Aussortiertes; eine Kehrseite des Prozesses, der für sich eine Freiheit beansprucht. Da diese Differenz nicht auf die Objektseite (das Gewählte) reduzierbar ist, sondern den Zugriff selbst (mit-)bestimmt, ist der synonyme Gebrauch von »Freiheit« und »Wahl« zu problematisieren. Dies versucht der Band in struktureller Standortbestimmung sowie spezifisch für die Felder Kunst, Literatur und Medien zu leisten.

Dies verändert die Diskussion über hybride Identitäten und kulturelle Zwischenräume und ermöglicht einen erweiterten Blick auf Migration, Kultur und Identität.

    Description: Die Geste wurde von der römischen Rhetorik über die Physiognomik bis hin zu den Gesture Studies vordergründig als eine funktionale körperliche Stütze für sprachliche Kommunikation oder als sinnliche Spur geistiger Zustände aufgefasst. Gesten begleiten unsere Diskurse und Gemütslagen und machen diese wahrnehmbar. Über diesen traditionell gültigen Standpunkt hinaus verlagert Luca Viglialoro den Fokus auf den somatisch-medialen Kunstcharakter der Geste, um diese als prozesshafte Technik (ars) für die Modellierung der aísthesis zu konturieren. Dafür werden die komplexen Relationen zwischen Gesten und Kunstreflexionen am Beispiel von medial unterschiedlichen Konfigurationen (von der Schrift und der Zeichnung bis zur Fotografie und Installationskunst) analysiert.
