Abstract: This book elaborates on the physical principles of polarization remote sensing. It explains the reflective characteristics of surface objects and atmosphere separately, including theory, experiment, instrument and application. In addition, it introduces how polarization remote sensing works in advanced research programs as it can be used in aviation, astronomy, disaster risk prevention and navigation fields. This book serves as a fundamental and comprehensive reference for researchers and students.

Notes: In this paper, the aging of an epoxy adhesive which is used to aluminum- aluminumcomposite joints in medium was studied by infrared spectroscopy (IR), scan electronic microscope(SEM) and shear strength test. In salt water, Na+ and Cl- can accelerate hydrolyzation of theadhesive and enhance water ingress ability in the adhesive. Shear strength tests indicate that thedurability of the adhesive in salt water aging is lower than that in water. IR spectroscopy and SEMof the adhesive indicates that the salt water diffusion speed in the epoxy adhesive/ aluminumaluminumcomposite joints depends on not only temperature but also salt water aging time, andhigh temperature can accelerate the degradation of the adhesive in salt water

Notes: Summary Styrene-methacrylic acid block polymers were prepared by radical polymerization by using a polyazoester as initiator. Its partial deconposition in the presence of styrene resulted in an azogroup-containing styrene prepolymer, which was further used to polymerize nethacrylic acid to form new PSt-PMAA block polymers. It was found that the conversion of MAA and the content of homo-PSt increased, while the content of homo-PMAA decreased, with the increase of pre-PSt/MAA ratio in the feed of the second step. The nature of the block structure of the purified block polymers was proved by their solubility and micellization. The results of DSC and dynamic mechanical analysis showed that the PMAA segments were partially crystalline with Tm=∼ 234 °C, Tg1=41–47 °C, and Tg2=∼ 185 °C. An outstanding feature of PSt-PMAA block polymers was their rather high tan δ values over a broad temperature range.

Notes: Abstract The electrical resistance and low-field magnetoresistance have been measured on three dimensional ZrCo alloys. The data of magnetoresistance can be accounted for by the contributions from the quenching of superconducting fluctuation and weak localization. The former described by the Maki-Thompson (MT) correction is dorminant at low-temperatures. The interaction in the particle-particle channel gives rise to a negative magnetoresistance. The paraconductivity phenomenon has been observed and found to be in a good agreement with the sum of the Maki-Thompson (MT) term and the Aslamazov-Larkin (AL) term. The former plays an important role and the depression by the pair breaking effects due to thermal phonons may only be 10% of the term.

Notes: The paper presents boundary integral equation to two-dimensional elasticity with the stress component σijtitj as one of the boundary values, where ti are direction cosines of the tangent on the boundary. This form of BEM has an advantage in that the stress component σijtitj on the boundary can be calculated directly from the numerical solution. The present formulation for planar problems uses two kernels, one of which is logarithmic singular and the other is 1/r singular. The effectiveness of the approach is also discussed through some test examples.
