    Abstract: The edited volume brings out a comprehensive collection of information relevant to wild food plants, their importance for global sustainable food security, future-readiness, and resilient agriculture. The book's primary focus is to cover topics on the diversity of wild food plants across the globe, their nutraceutical importance, production-consumption trends, integration into the current food menu, and marketing and livelihood opportunities to the indigenous people. Sustainable development goals 1, 2, and 3 are significant for a poverty-free, hunger-free world and ensure good health and wellbeing of the people, respectively. The three goals are important and interlinked as achieving zero poverty will help reduce hunger among the people. Availability of nutritional and balanced food ensures good health. Wild food plants are an essential part of a nourishing and healthy diet for indigenous communities. They are globally collected from natural habitats or cultivated at more minor scales. Although consumed locally, they are an essential part of the diets of tribal and indigenous communities worldwide and hold immense potential to alleviate global hunger. Considering their importance for global sustainable food security, it is essential to clearly understand the future role of wild food plants for future readiness and resilient agriculture. Therefore, this book provides a piece of important information on these aspects.     Notes: Abstract Assuming that the initial state of the Universe can be simulated by a thin large-scale homogeneous ambiplasma described by fluid type equations for charged particles (both matter and antimatter particles), stability calculations have been carried out of the various normal modes which might be supported by such a system. The present simplified analysis does not lead to the formation of matter-antimatter symmetric domains smaller than the size of the proto-metagalaxy (Alfvén, 1981) from the initial state of the Universe.

    Notes: Abstract Tannins are water-soluble polyphenolic compounds having wide prevalence in plants. Hydrolysable and condensed tannins are the two major classes of tannins. These compounds have a range of effects on various organisms – from toxic effects on animals to growth inhibition of microorganisms. Some microbes are, however, resistant to tannins, and have developed various mechanisms and pathways for tannin degradation in their natural milieu. The microbial degradation of condensed tannins is, however, less than hydrolysable tannins in both aerobic and anaerobic environments. A number of microbes have also been isolated from the gastrointestinal tract of animals, which have the ability to break tannin-protein complexes and degrade tannins, especially hydrolysable tannins. Tannase, a key enzyme in the degradation of hydrolysable tannins, is present in a diverse group of microorganisms, including rumen bacteria. This enzyme is being increasingly used in a number of processes. Presently, there is a need for increased understanding of the biodegradation of condensed tannins, particularly in ruminants.

    Notes: Abstract The effect of feeding mycotoxins, i.e. aflatoxin B1 (1.25 ppm from 3 to 38 days of age) and ochratoxin A (0.5 ppm from 3 to 38 days of age) along with inclusion body hepatitis virus (IBHV) inoculation (at 10 days of age) singly and in combination was studied in broiler chicks. Birds in combined treatment groups, i.e. aflatoxin fed and virus inoculated and ochratoxin fed and virus inoculated, showed more changes in activities of phosphatases (AKPase, ATPase, G-6-Pase and ACPase) in liver and kidney tissues than their respective individual treatment groups with a few exceptions. Reduction in the activities of oxido-reductases in liver and kidney tissues were almost comparable in different treatment groups. The increase in muco-polysaccharides reaction was more marked in both the combined treatment groups than the single treatment groups. Intensity of lipid reaction was more in ochratoxin virus combination group than either alone.

    Notes: Abstract This paper discusses the propagation of waves in the early Universe simulated by rarefied, homogeneous ambiplasma (a mixed matter-antimatter ionized gas) placed in a uniform magnetic field. A rich variety of oscillations appear due to enhanced degrees of freedom in the ambiplasma. These oscillations have been analyzed for the propagation vector along and across the direction of magnetic field both in a symmetric and asymmetric ambiplasma. It is found that the oscillations do not grow in different situations which have been discussed. Dispersion curves have been drawn and various cut-offs and resonances have been found out. The study is concluded by highlighting some characteristic features of the waves in the ambiplasma.

    Notes: A simple and logical finite element formulation is presented for the analysis of rings and sectors, with Timoshenko effects. The elemental properties are derived from the governing differential equation of motion using the Galerkin method. A quintic polynomial, satisfying the compatibility of derivatives up to second order, has been used for the ring finite element. The interpolating function is the same as for a thin ring. The efficiency of the formulation has been illustrated by the numerical results presented.
