Notizen: Abstract The synergistic extractions of uranium(VI) from hydrochloric acid solution and sulfuric acid solution with 1-phenyl-3-methyl-4-(2′-chlorobenzoyl)-pyrazolone-5 (PMCBP) together with the neutral extractants: tributyl phosphate(TBP), di-octyl sulfoxide(DOSO) and trioctylphosphine oxide(TOPO) in chloroform have been investigated. A high synergistic extraction effect was found. The formulas of the extracted species have been shown to be UO2A2B (where A=PMCBP, B=neutral extractant). The synergistic extraction power increases as follows: PMCBP-TOPO〉PMCBP-DOSO〉PMCBP-TBP. The equilibrium constants have been calculated. Models for the extraction mechanism are also discussed.

Notizen: Abstract The synergistic extractions of uranium(VI) nitrate using HDEHP,* PMBP** and TBP*** have been studied from benzene media. A new method is proposed to calculate the equilibrium constants for such kinds of ternary synergistic extraction systems. The extraction reactions and their equilibrium constants were found. Models for the extraction mechanism are also discussed.

Notizen: Abstract The synergic extraction of uranyl nitrate from chloroform media with 1-phenyl-3-methyl-4-benzoyl-pyrazonole-5 /PMBP/, tributylphosphate /TBP/ and thenoyltrifluorylacetone /TTA/ was studied. It was found that synergic effect occurs during the extraction of uranyl nitrate with the chloroform solution of PMBP-TTA-TBP. The formation of the ternary extracted complex UO2AA'B was confirmed by the usual slope method. A method was proposed for the calculation of the ternary equilibrium constant which was evaluated to be 1gK111=2.65. Also the binary synergic extractions of uranyl nitrate with PMBP-TBP and TTA-TBP were studied. The binary equilibrium constants were found to be 1gK201=3.07 and 1gK021=1.39, respectively. An attempt has been made to interpret the data mainly on the basis of statistical factor.

Molecular identification and toxin analysis of Alexandrium spp. in the Beibu Gulf: first report of toxic A. tamiyavanichii in Chinese coastal waters. Beschreibung: The frequency of harmful algal blooms (HABs) has increased in China in recent years. Information about harmful dinoflagellates and paralytic shellfish toxins (PSTs) is still limited in China, especially in the Beibu Gulf, where PSTs in shellfish have exceeded food safety guidelines on multiple occasions. To explore the nature of the threat from PSTs in the region, eight Alexandrium strains were isolated from waters of the Beibu Gulf and examined using phylogenetic analyses of large subunit (LSU) rDNA, small subunit (SSU) rDNA, and internal transcribed spacer (ITS) sequences. Their toxin composition profiles were also determined using liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS). All eight strains clustered in the phylogenetic tree with A. pseudogonyaulax, A. affine, and A. tamiyavanichii from other locations, forming three well-resolved groups. The intraspecific genetic distances of the three Alexandrium species were significantly smaller than interspecific genetic distances for Alexandrium species. Beibu Gulf isolates were therefore classified as A. pseudogonyaulax, A. affine, and A. tamiyavanichii. No PSTs were identified in A. pseudogonyaulax, but low levels of gonyautoxins (GTXs) 1 to 5, and saxitoxin (STX) were detected in A. tamiyavanichii (a total of 4.60 fmol/cell). The extremely low level of toxicity is inconsistent with PST detection above regulatory levels on multiple occasions within the Beibu Gulf, suggesting that higher toxicity strains may occur in those waters, but were unsampled. Other explanations including biotransformation of PSTs in shellfish and the presence of other PST-producing algae are also suggested. Understanding the toxicity and phylogeny of Alexandrium species provides foundational data for the protection of public health in the Beibu Gulf region and the mitigation of HAB events.

Beschreibung: The high-quality and low-cost of the graphene preparation method decide whether graphene is put into the applications finally. Enormous efforts have been devoted to understand and optimize the CVD process of graphene over various d-block transition metals (e.g. Cu, Ni and Pt). Here we report the growth of uniform high-quality single-layer, single-crystalline graphene flakes and their continuous films over p-block elements (e.g. Ga) liquid films using ambient-pressure chemical vapor deposition. The graphene shows high crystalline quality with electron mobility reaching levels as high as 7400 cm2 V−1s−1 under ambient conditions. Our employed growth strategy is ultra-low-loss. Only trace amounts of Ga are consumed in the production and transfer of the graphene and expensive film deposition or vacuum systems are not needed. We believe that our research will open up new territory in the field of graphene growth and thus promote its practical application. Scientific Reports 3 doi: 10.1038/srep02670

Beschreibung: Condition monitoring is used to assess the reliability and equipment efficiency of wind turbines. Feature extraction is an essential preprocessing step to achieve a high level of performance in condition monitoring. However, the fluctuating conditions of wind turbines usually cause sudden variations in the monitored features, which may lead to an inaccurate prediction and maintenance schedule. In this scenario, this article proposed a novel methodology to detect the multiple levels of faults of rolling bearings in variable operating conditions. First, signal decomposition was carried out by variational mode decomposition (VMD). Second, the statistical features were calculated and extracted in the time domain. Meanwhile, a permutation entropy analysis was conducted to estimate the complexity of the vibrational signal in the time series. Next, feature selection techniques were applied to achieve improved identification accuracy and reduce the computational burden. Finally, the ranked feature vectors were fed into machine learning algorithms for the classification of the bearing defect status. In particular, the proposed method was performed over a wide range of working regions to simulate the operational conditions of wind turbines. Comprehensive experimental investigations were employed to evaluate the performance and effectiveness of the proposed method.

Beschreibung: Full waveform inversion (FWI) can yield high resolution images and has been applied in Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) for around 20 years. However, appropriate selection of the initial models is important in FWI because such an inversion is highly nonlinear. The conventional way to obtain the initial models for GPR FWI is ray-based tomogram inversion which suffers from several inherent shortcomings. In this paper, we develop a Laplace domain waveform inversion to obtain initial models for the time domain FWI. The gradient expression of the Laplace domain waveform inversion is deduced via the derivation of a logarithmic object function. Permittivity and conductivity are updated by using the conjugate gradient method. Using synthetic examples, we found that the value of the damping constant in the inversion cannot be too large or too small compared to the dominant frequency of the radar data. The synthetic examples demonstrate that the Laplace domain waveform inversion provide slightly better initial models for the time domain FWI than the ray-based inversion. Finally, we successfully applied the algorithm to one field data set, and the inverted results of the Laplace-based FWI show more details than that of the ray-based FWI.
