Notizen: [Auszug] SANDI et a?.1-3 have described an agar-agar diffusion procedure which can be used for the analysis of crops, soils, and animal tissues for residues of organophosphorus and carbamate insecticides. In their procedure, a layer of agar-agar 5 mm thick containing cholinesterase was prepared from human ...

Notizen: Monomer reactivity ratios have been measured for the copolymerization of lauryl methacrylate and allylureas at 100°C., benzoyl peroxide being used as catalyst: lauryl methacrylate-monoallylurea, r1 = 29.9 ± 1.2, r2 = -0.22 ± 0.06; lauryl methacrylate-N,N-diallylurea, r1 = 27.4 ± 0.8, r2 = 0.014 ± 0.05; lauryl methacrylate-N,N′-diallylurea; r1 = 14.5 ± 0.7, r2 = -0.12 ± 0.04. The reactivity ratio r1 is of lauryl methacrylate relative to the allylurea molecule as a whole and the monomer reactivity ratio r2 is of the allylurea molecule relative to lauryl methacrylate. The values of the monomer reactivity ratios of lauryl methacrylate relative to a single allyl group in each of the allylureas have been calculated. It appears that the allyl groups in all of these molecules have similar reactivity for copolymerization with lauryl methacrylate. The monomer reactivity ratios provide evidence for cyclic propagation reactions in the copolymerization involving N,N-diallylurea.

Notizen: The reactivity ratios for the copolymerization of lauryl methacrylate (LMA) with diallyl phenylphosphonate (DAPP), diallyl butylphosphonate (DABP), and diethyl allylphosphonate (DEAP), respectively, have been measured at 80°. \documentclass{article}\pagestyle{empty}\begin{document}$ \begin{array}{l} {\rm LMA - DAPP, }r_1 = 19.5,{\rm }r_2 = 0.072 \\ {\rm LMA - DABP, }r_1 = 18.7,{\rm }r_2 = 0.091 \\ {\rm LMA - DEAP, }r_1 = 52.5,{\rm }r_2 = 0.066 \\ \end{array} $\end{document} None of the phosphonates are active for copolymerization with LMA but the DAPP and DABP have similar activities which are greater than that of DEAP. The variation with conversion in composition of the LMA-DAPP copolymer formed at any instant has been calculated using Skiest's equation and the calculations have been extended to show the variation of the overall composition of the copolymer with conversion. Intrinsic viscosities and molecular weights have been measured for some LMA-DAPP copolymers and these values are found to depend on the phosphorus contents of the copolymers.

Notizen: Monomer reactivity ratios have been measured for the copolymerization of n-lauryl methacrylate with diallylphenylphosphine oxide at 80, 110, and 140°C. The n-lauryl methacrylate is far more reactive in the copolymerization than the diallylphenylphosphine oxide. The reactivity ratios at 140°C. as calculated by the Mayo and Walling integrated equation vary with the composition of the starting mixture in the copolymerization, and the value of r2 is significantly negative. These effects are explained by the existence of a penultimate group effect produced by diallylphenylphosphine oxide.
