    First records of the genus Eugalta Cameron, 1899 (Hymenoptera: Ichneumonidae: Poemeniinae) from Vietnam (2017)

    Description: The genus Eugalta Cameron, 1899 (Ichneumonidae: Poemeniinae) is reported for the first time from Vietnam after studying the Ichneumonidae collections recently assembled at the Institute of Ecology and Biological Resources (Ha Noi) and the Naturalis Biodiversity Center(Leiden). A key to seven species of Eugaltais compiled. Eugalta punctulata yamuna (Gupta, 1980), is a junior synonym of the nominate subspecies, E. punctulata punctulata Cameron, 1899, syn. nov.

    Description: The enigmatic genus Gastralysia Fischer, 1967 (Hymenoptera: Braconidae: Alysiinae) and its type species, G. garambana Fischer, 1967, are redescribed and illustrated. The female is described for the first time. The position of the genus is discussed and the genus is placed in a new subtribus, Gastralysiina subtrib. n. The genus is reported new for Ivory Coast and Tanzania.

    Description: An illustrated key to the currently recognized genera of the subfamily Eumeninae (Vespidae) from China is presented together with a list of 267 species and subspecies, belonging to 51 genera. Nortozumia van der Vecht, 1937 is reported for the first time from China. Two replacement names are proposed for junior primary homonyms: Ancistrocerus rufofrustius Tan & Carpenter, nom. n. replacing Ancistrocerus rufopictus (Kostylev) and Orientalicesa confasciatus Tan & Carpenter, nom. n. replacing Orientalicesa unifasciatus (von Schulthess, 1934).

    New species and new record of Chelonini (Hymenoptera: Braconidae) from western Iran (2018)

    Description: In 2015 and 2016, the occurrence of the tribe Chelonini (Braconidae, Cheloninae) in the province of Hamadan (western Iran) was surveyed using malaise traps. In total, 12 species were discovered. Chelonus (C.) olgae Kokujev, 1895 is new to the fauna of Iran and one species, Chelonus (Microchelonus) subpamiricus Farahani & van Achterberg sp. nov., is new to science. The diagnostic characters and supplementary illustrations of the newly recorded species are provided.

    Pollination and protection against herbivory of Nepalese Coelogyninae (Orchidaceae) (2011)

    Description: \xe2\x80\xa2 Premise of the Study: Although many species in the orchid genus Coelogyne are horticulturally popular, hardly anything is known about their pollination. Pollinators of three species were observed in the fi eld in Nepal. This information is urgently needed because many orchid species in Nepal are endangered. Whether the exudates produced by extrafl oral nectaries played a role in protection against herbivory was also investigated. \n\xe2\x80\xa2 Methods: Pollinators of C. fl accida , C. nitida , and Otochilus albus were filmed, captured, and identifi ed. Ant surveys and exclusion experiments were carried out. To investigate whether pollinators are needed for fruit set, plants were wrapped in mesh wire bags. Infl orescence stems were examined with microscopy. Fehling \xe2\x80\x99 s reagent was used to detect sugars in extrafl oral exudates. \n\xe2\x80\xa2 Key Results: Coelogyne fl accida and C. nitida need pollinators to set fruit and are pollinated by wild bees identifi ed as Apiscerana . Otochilus albus was found to be pollinated by Bombus kashmirensis. Extrafl oral nectar was found to be exuded by nectary-modifi ed stomata and contained high amounts of sugars. Different species of ants were observed collecting these exudates. A signifi cant difference was found in damage infl icted by fl ower and leaf-eating beetles between C. nitida plants living in trees with ant nests and those in ant-free trees. \n\xe2\x80\xa2 Conclusions: Floral syndromes include scented and colored trap fl owers without reward to their pollinators. All orchids investigated exude extrafl oral nectar by nectary-modifi ed stomata. This nectar was found to fl ow from the phloem to the stomata through intercellular spaces in the outer parenchymatous layer of the inflorescence.

    New species of Trigonalyidae (Hymenoptera) from NW China (2017)

    Description: Four new species of Trigonalyidae are described and illustrated from Qinling Mts (Shaanxi, NW China): Bareogonalos xibeidai Tan & van Achterberg, sp. n., Jezonogonalos mandibularis sp. n., J. shaanxiensis sp. n., and Taeniogonalos paraclypeata sp. n. Orthogonalys hirasana Teranishi, 1929, is re-instated and reported from China. The female of Taeniogonalos alticola (Tsuneki, 1991) is described for the first time. In total, 18 species are known from Shaanxi province, 20 species for NW China, and eight described species are newly recorded for Shaanxi: Jezonogonalos luteata Chen et al., 2014, Orthogonalys hirasana Teranishi, 1929, O. elongata Teranishi, 1929, Pseudogonalos hahnii (Spinola, 1840), Taeniogonalos alticola (Tsuneki,1991), T. formosana (Bischoff, 1913), T. taihorina (Bischoff, 1914), and Teranishia glabrata Chen et al., 2014. Poecilogonalos maga Teranishi, 1929, syn. n. and Taiwanogonalos claripennis Tsuneki, 1991, syn. n. are new synonyms of Taeniogonalos taihorina (Bischoff, 1914) and Taiwanogonalos alishana Tsuneki, 1991,\nsyn. n. of Taeniogonalos alticola (Tsuneki, 1991). Revised keys to species of the genera Bareogonalos, Jezonogonalos, and Orthogonalys are included.

    Description: A key to the East Palaearctic and northern Oriental species of Rhysipolis Foerster, 1862 (Hymenoptera: Braconidae: Rhysipolinae) is presented. Rhysipolis longicaudatus Belokobylskij, 1994 (stat. nov.) is redescribed, the first host records are given and it is reported new for China. Rhysipolis longicaudatus was reared from Taleporia sp. (Lepidoptera: Psychidae) in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and from Bazaria turensis Ragonot (Lepidoptera: Pyralidae) in Qinghai Province.
