    Description: According to achieve sustainable production in shrimp farming industry, it is necessary to provide the relief of producers through insurance. Aquaculture faces various environmental conditions such as unpredictable climate changes, epidemic diseases, harsh water factors, that may affect the production cycle, and impact on producer's life. In this research, the effects of various factors on production of cultured shrimp have been studied. The project conducted through completion of questionaries by random selected of small scale farms, and all large farms which engaged in production in that years. In order to increase the accuracy of responses, special questionnaires provided to fill in by expertise experts.All data explained the share of management and natural factors on production process.

    Description: There are many factors affecting aquaculture insurance in Iran. In spite of existing formulation for warm water fish culture in Iran, there was several aspects and new revisions were remind. In this study we focused on risk assessment as well as insurance procedure to find the better management practices on running insurance in the country. 360 farm in tree provinces (guilan, Mazandaran, Khozestan were selected for risk analysis program. Data were collected throw questionnaire forms. The project was carried out in fore disciplines 1) risk analyzing for manageable and unmanageable accidents and their deductible rates 2) revise premium forms , claim forms, inspection forms 3) new formulation for insurance management 4) guide lines for diagnostic futures and prevention of manageable accident.

    Description: Chalcalburnus mossulensis from the cyprinidae family is one of the indigenous fish in Gheshlagh Lake of Kordestan, Iran. Ligula intestinalis is one of the infective parasites among various species of fish and causes gonads atrophy. In this study, after detection of species and age of samples, the effects of this parasite on gonads tissues and sexual maturation of Chalcalburnus mossulensis were investigated. By seasonal sampling 144 samples were collected. After investigatiing gonad tissue samples, it was clear that, there is a significant difference between the means of male and female gonads maturation rate in infected and non infected samples (p〈 0.05). Infection by Ligula intestinalis can be the reason for lack of gonads maturation. In addition, the abnormal degenerative changes like, absorption follicle, hemorrhage and infiltration of inflammation cells in ovary tissues of infected fish were seen. In testicle tissue, dispersed hemorrhage, atrophy and MMC (melano-macrophage center) were seen as pathological signs. So the spread of this parasite in different water sources is important as the point the maintenance of native species and cultivated fish.

    Description: Nanotechnology presents countless opportunities to develop new and improved consumer products for the benefit of the society . A most prominent nanoproduct is nanosilver. Nanosilver particles are generally smaller than 100 nm and contain 20–15,000 silver atoms. Despite the wide application of nanomaterials, there is a serious lack of information concerning their impact on human health. In the previous study we reported the cytotoxic of nanosilver on osteoblast G292 cancer cell line and the amount of IC50 determined as 3.42 µg/ml (Moaddab et al., Iran. Nano Lett., Vol. 1, No. 1, January 2011, pp. 11-16). The purpose of the present study is to assess the biological assay of nanosilver on two normal cell lines of fibroblast (HF2), and mesenchymal stem cells . The effect of nanosilver on these cells is evaluated by light microscopy, and by cell proliferation and standard cytotoxicity assays. The results demonstrate a concentration-dependent toxicity for the cells tested, and IC50 was determined as 6.33, and 6.68 µg/ml in mesenchymal stem cell, and fibroblast HF2, respectively. There is no significant difference between the 24 h and 48 h of cells exposure to nanosilver. The results show that Nano-Ag possesses low toxicity to normal cells and can display potential application in cancer chemoprevention and chemotherapy.

    Description: The effect of aqueous solutions of ascorbic acid (AA) on the rancidity development in Cobia (Rachycentron canadum) fillets during frozen storage was studied. Cobia fillets were treated with ascorbic acid (AA 0.25% and AA 0.5%) then stored at -18°C up to 6 months. Rancidity development was measured by several biochemical indices including free fatty acids (FFA), peroxide value (PV), and thiobarbituric acid (TBA) and complemented by the sensory analysis ( odor, consistency and appearance). In addition, pH and expressible moisture (EM) were measured during 6 months storage. Proximate composition was also determined in the first day. TBA, PV and FFA levels increased on all treatments due to lipid oxidation. Ascorbic acid showed antioxidative effect on Cobia fillets during frozen storage as indicated by TBA, PV and FFA levels. Results showed that free fatty acid, primary and secondary oxidation products, EM and pH value of AA- treated samples were significantly lower than those of the control samples (P〈0.05). A gradual decrease (P〈0.05) in sensory analysis were observed as the storage time increased. Results of our investigation revealed that ascorbic acid retarded oxidative changes in frozen Cobia fillets whereas AA 0.25% was not as effective as AA 0.5% on oxidative stability. Best oxidation inhibition results on fish fillets were obtained when employing a 0.5% AA solution.

    Description: Scientific and practical planning for achieving the lofty goals of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the framework of development plan of 1404 is the requirement to achieve sustainable development. Establishing roadmap of industries and products was considered by the scientific and technology office of the deputy president, in order to achieve the abovementioned objectives and in line with the national scientific comprehensive map. Therefore, present study was conducted as the roadmap of national aquatic-food processing development using available approved documents e.g. Iran perspective of 1404, fifth developing plan of I.R. of Iran, developing plan of Iranian fisheries organization in 1400 and the available approved statistical data. Current perspective of the aquatic-food processing is presented at the first chapter of the study. The second chapter reviewed the problems and obstacles. Third chapter tabulated the published studies and researches in fish handling and processing so far. Finally fourth chapter recommends executive and research projects considering quantitative and qualitative objectives of Iran 1400 plan as well as fifth developing plan of Shilat-Iran (Iranian fisheries organization). Authors hope the study to be useful in the national planning of I. R. of Iran in the future.

    Description: The first time the white spot disease (WSD) and IHHNV were reported in Iran was in 2004 and 2008, respectively in Bushehr Province. In Sistan and Balochestan province only the WSD was reported in 2008.The aim of this study was detecting these two viral diseases in these provinces, during December 2009 to April 2010. A total of 364 samples were collected according to suspected gross signs from hatcheries and shrimp farms in Bushehr and Sistan and Blochestan provinces (I.R. Iran) respectively, including larvae (72, 43 samples), post larvae (48, 37 samples), juveniles (57, 32 samples), sub adults (39, 22 samples) and broodstock (29, 13 samples) of Litopenaus vannamei . WSD was detected from juveniles (23 samples), sub adults (14 samples), and broodstock (14 samples), and IHHNV was also detected from juveniles (16 samples), sub adults (9 samples) and broodstock (5 samples) based on gross signs, PCR and histopathological changes from Bushehr province but from Sistan and Blochestan province only WSD was detected from juveniles (26 samples), sub adults (18 samples) and broodstock (7 samples). Histopathological observations of WSSV showed basophilic Cowdry type A inclusion bodies in all tissues such as gills, haematopoietic tissue, cuticle epithelium, lymphoid organ and connective tissue. However histologically, the hepatopancreas tissue showed vacuolization of B cells , without inclusion bodies, but histopatholgical changes caused IHHNV including eosinophilic Cowdry type A inclusion bodies which were ectodermal, mesodermal and rarely endodermal.

    Description: A total of 394 (255 males,139 females) live freshwater crayfish Astacus leptodactylus from four stations of Aras reservoir in West Azarbaijan Province (North-Western Iran) were studied during the winter until early autumn of 2009 for the presence of parasites, Epibionts and Fungal agents. Parasitological surveys were carried out on gills exoskeleton and internal organs, mycological examinations on the exoskeleton (the legs, abdominal cuticle and the eggs). 9 epibionts and parasites peritrich protozoans including :Cothurnia sieboldii (68.5%), Zoothamnium spp. (56.6%), Vorticella similis (45.6%), Chilodonella spp. (0.5%), Podophrya fixa (7.8%), Epistylis chrysemidis (53.2%), Pyxicola annulata (66%), Opercularia articulata (19.8%), Tetrahymena pyriformis (0.5%) were recorded. From Metazoan parasites group, Branchiobdella kozarovi (71%) as the first observation was the only parasite recorded from exoskeleton with prevalence (100%) during spring and summer of the study year. Infected gills were heavily damaged with Aeolosoma hemprichi (Annelid) in winter with 90% prevalence. Other Epibiont fouling organisms such as Rotatoria free living Nematods were observed in this survey. Furthermore, on the mycotic agents identified Penicillium expansum Aspergillus flavus Alternaria sp. Fusarium sp. and Saprolegnia sp. were isolated in IM media and identified with slides cultured from cuticular melanized lesions and eggs of infected specimens. This is the first investigation on epibionts, parasites and fungal organisms of the endemic crayfish in Aras reservoir, Iran.

    Description: Fish Protein Concentrate (FPC) is a healthy, sustainable and high nutritive product that produced from fish and protein and other nutrients are more concentrated than in the fresh fish. The aim of this research is to study the sustainability of FPC produced from Kilka (combination of three Caspian Sea Kilka species, Clupeonella engrauliformis, C. grimmi and C. cultriventris which were not identified and processed separately) in VP (Vacuum Packaging) and MAP (Modified Atmosphere Packaging) at different temperatures during six months of storage. According to result of chemical analysis performed, protein content was evaluated 91.2%, lipid 0.5%, ash 3.6%, moisture 2.3%, TVN 10 mg/100g and peroxide 5 meq/kg in the produced FPC before packing. Amino acids and fatty acids were also determined. Lipid amount in FPC after 6 months at 35°C in VP changed from 0.50 to 0.45 and in MAP (combined of 60% CO2, 30% N2 and 10% O2), decreased from 0.50 to 0.36. It was also detected that increase in temperature leads to more decrease in lipid content but it was not significant (P〉0.05). Protein content of FPC has changed from 91.2% to 73.6% during six months at 35°C in VP and 69.4% in MAP. But at 5°C, protein contents were changed from 91.2% to 88.4% and 81.2% in VP and MAP, respectively these changes were significant (P〈0.05) but the decrease in MAP was again more than VP.

    Description: The effects of whey protein (12%) and sodium alginate (0.5%) on chemical, microbial and sensory changes and shelf life in kilka during frozen storage are investigated for up to 6 months. Total bacteria count and Staphylococcus bacteria counts(2 / 51 and 1 / 44 log CFU/g) in coated samples showed decrease in comparison with control samples(3.21- 2.28 log CFU/g). Moisture of coated samples had significant increase than control treatment (p〈0.05). protein, lipid, ash and calorie were higher in test samples as compared with the control samples. Free fatty acids, TBRS, peroxide value, TVN and pH in coated samples showed significant decrease in comparison with control (p〈0.05). Sensory evaluation of coated samples showed significant difference in comparison with control (p〈0.05). It is suggested that whey protein edible coating incorporated with sodium alginate can enhance quality and increase shelf life of kilka fish in storage of freezing up to 6 months.
