Description:
... Overall, An Introduction to Programming with Mathematica is a useful and
readable book that could serve as the text for a generic programming class, a supporting
text for a class on programming for geoscientists, or an introduction for experienced
geoscience programmers looking for an easily readable summary of Mathematica's
programming language. Experienced Mathematica programmers may find it useful as a
refresher. The book's principal drawbacks are the high price of Mathematica for those
who do not already have the software (although a modestly priced student version is
available) and, for geoscientists in particular, a lack of relevant example problems
