Notes:
Antigen release from canine renal homotransplants was demonstrated in the renal vein of the transplanted kidney. The antigen was carried from the transplanted kidney to the host as a soluble or particulate substance within the host plasma. The host leukocytes were not implicated in the transport system. Antigen could not be detected in the peripheral vein blood. Antigen could be demonstrated in the plasma leaving the transplanted kidney within 10 minutes after vascular anastomosis was completed. The release of antigen terminated 2 to 3 days after transplantation. The presence of donor antigen from renal homotransplantation may be related to the degree of kidney damage. C orticosteroid administration had no effect on the antigenicity of the transplanted kidneys.
