Summary The production and diminution of cyclonic and anticyclonic vorticity is investigated by means of the equation of continuity with sources and sinks for the absolute vorticity. Doing this the authors prove that cyclonic vorticity is produced below the area of anticyclonic wind-shear of the jet-stream and anticyclonic vorticity is produced below the area of cyclonic wind-shear of the jet-stream. This fact is verified by the observations. Moreover, the authors try to give an explanation for the regeneration of tropical cyclons.

Zusammenfassung Es wird die Produktion bzw. Reduktion von zyklonaler und antizyklonaler Vorticity an Hand einr Bilanzgleichung für die absolute. Wirbelgröße untersucht. Dabei kann nachgewiesen werden, daß zyklonale Vorticity unterhalb des antizyklonalen und antizyklonale Vorticity unterhalb des zyklonalen Scherungsbereichs des Jetstreams entsteht. Diese Tatsache wird durch die Beobachtungen bestätigt. Weiters wird versucht, eine Erklärung für die Regeneration von tropischen Zyklonen zu geben.
