Zusammenfassung Ein einfaches maßanalytisches Verfahren zur Bestimmung von Fluor in organischen Verbindungen wird beschrieben. Arsenazo I O-(1,8-dihydroxy-3,6-disulfo-2-naphthylazo)-benzolarsensäure wird als Indikator für die Titration mit Thoriumnitrat vorgeschlagen, da es sich besser eignet als Alizarinrot S. Ein elektrisch heizbarer Verbrennungskolben wird verwendet, um Temperatur und Dauer des Erhitzens zu kontrollieren. Kohlenstoffhältige Probenträger (Filterpapier) werden nicht verwendet, so daß die Menge des für die Verbrennung von Polyfluorverbindungen nötigen Oxydationsmittels vermindert und die Gefahr einer zu heftigen Verbrennung herabgesetzt wird.

Summary A simple titrimetric method for determination of fluorine in organic compounds is described. Arsenazo I is proposed to be the indicator for thorium-fluorine titration since it is superior to alizarin red-S. The electrically heated combustion flask is used, providing a means to control the temperature and the duration of heating. The carbonaceous sample carriers are eliminated, reducing the amount of oxidant required for combustion of polyfluoro compounds and minimizing the danger of violent combustion.
