Notes: Abstract Newly synthezised primary and secondary amines of the hexachloronorbornene-2-methylen type [1,4,5,6,7,7-hexachloro-bicyclo-[2,2,1]-5-heptene-2-metliylamine (Ia) and 1,4,5,6,7,7-hexachloro-bicyclo-[2,2,1]-5-heptene-2,3-bis-methylenecycloamine (IIa)] have been used to get the corresponding ammonium dithiocarbamates. Their polychlorinated metal dithiocarbamates could be seperated by thin-layer chromatography on silicagel with several solvent mixtures as eluant. The metal chelates separated, can be determined quantitatively in the nanogram range after extraction from the thin-layer by acetone using the polychlorinated ligands for pyrolysis electron-capture gas-chromatography. The instant and reproducible pyrolysis results in the case of metal dithiocarbamates derived from the primary amine (Ia) in the corresponding isothiocyanate (III) whereas metal dithiocarbamates derived from the secondary amine (IIa) give a sharp detector signal for the amine itself.
