Abstract This article examines the problem of determining the stress state of a railroad-wheel web as a thin-walled shell of revolution of variable stiffness subjected to axisymmetric and antisymmetric contour loads. A stable numerical method is used to solve the problem. The stress distribution in a disk loaded by vertical and lateral forces is presented.
