Conclusions Nonfired magnesite tar-bonded brick should be regarded as a promising refractory material for lining oxygen converters. It may be carried long distances and kept for a long time in the open air. It would be a good idea to organize the experimental-commercial production of this brick for extensive comparative tests in converters and other metallurgical units instead of the fired basic refractories. When designing shops for the production of nonfired basic refractories with a tar bond, provision must be made for maximum automation and mechanization as well as for airtight equipment so as to maintain the relevant hygienic working conditions.
