Summary The paper is considered to find out the transmission ratio in the presence of Maxwell solid layer sandwiched between homogeneous elastic media of same nature. Numerical results show that for small relaxation time the transmission ratio changes appreciably while it remains constant for large relaxation time. This implies that for large relaxation time it is the same as that of elastic case. The result also shows that the transmission ratio increases with increasing wave lengths.
