Notes:
Summary During chronic poisoning, gammexane chiefly provokes a disturbance of the nutritive balance of the dog: degeneration of liver occurs. In acute poisoning, animals show clonic convulsions of central origin, often accompanied by an increase of the potassium level in the blood. Calcium concentration does not change. The convulsions shown by the animal anæsthetized with chloralosane or ether are stopped under the influence of a barbiturate.
