Catalyst aging, in particular of the system Al(C2H5)2Cl/TiCl3 is achieved in presence of small amounts of monomeric α-olefins which partly polymerize during this period.At the beginning the subsequent main polymerization of ethylene or propylene shows pronounced changes of the rate of polymerization, i.e., by prepolymerizing ethylene the following main polymerization is decreased, with propylene and higher α-olefins (butene-1, hexene-1) as premonomers, the main polymerization is increased. The effects vanish with propylene after longer polymerization periods. Formation of block copolymers of pre- and main polymerization is established.Various aspects to explain the positive and negative activity changes are discussed on the basis of concepts previously developed.

Es wird über Versuche berichtet, bei denen die Katalysatoralterung, hauptsächlich beim System Al(C2H5)2Cl/TiCl3, in Gegenwart geringer Mengen von monomeren α-Olefinen durchgeführt wird, die während dieser Zeit teilweise polymerisieren.Die nachfolgende Hauptpolymerisation von Äthylen oder Propylen zeigt anfänglich starke Veränderungen der Polymerisationsgeschwindigkeit, und zwar wird durch Vorgabe von Äthylen die Geschwindigkeit der nachfolgenden Hauptpolymerisation erniedrigt, durch Vorgabe von Propylen und höheren α-Olefinen (Buten-1, Hexen-1) hingegen erhöht. Nach längeren Polymerisationszeiten verschwinden bei Propylen die Effekte. Die Bildung von Blockcopolymeren bei Vor- und Hauptpolymerisation wird wahrscheinlich gemacht.Mit Hilfe bereits früher entwickelter Vorstellungen werden verschiedene Ursachen zur Erklärung der auftretenden positiven und negativen Aktivitätsänderungen diskutiert.
