Notes: Fiber formation of tetramethylenephenylenethiazole polymers has been investigated by melt-, wet-, and dry-spinning methods. The effects on fiber properties, the molecular weight of the polymer, the method of spinning, and the amount the fiber is drawn after spinning have been studied. The stability of the fibers to strong acids and alkali was also determined. The physical properties and the resistance to ultraviolet and gamma radiations of films of tetramethylenephenylenethiazole polymers were determined and compared with similar properties of some commercial films.
