The dispersion and valency state of the chromium ions in ZnO—Cr2O3 catalysts have been estimated from the Weiss constants and magnetic moments. The sample containing 4,8% Cr2O3 shows an epr signal of Cr5+ ions.The curves of the apparent activation energy for the hydrogenation reaction of ethylene and of the Weiss constants have both a similar shape.

Aus den Weiss-Konstanten und den magnetischen Momenten wird auf die Verteilung und die Wertigkeit der Chromionen geschlossen. Die Probe mit 4,8 Mol-% Cr2O3 zeigte ein ESR-Signal von Cr5+-Ionen. Für die Werte der scheinbaren Aktivierungs-energien der Äthylenhydrierungsreaktion ergibt sich ein symbater Verlauf mit den Daten der magnetischen Wechselwirkung.
