By cautious solvolysis of the alkaline earth pernitrides Me3N4 (Me = Ca, Sr, Ba) hydrazine and hydrogen are produced, as well as ammonia and nitrogen. In the case of barium pernitride approximately 20% of the total nitrogen was released as hydrazine. The formation of hydrazine cannot proceed by either amination of ammonia or by the disproportionation of diimide. Analyses show that, of the three pernitrides, barium pernitride approaches most closely to the formula Me3N4, but this also contains some hydrogen.

Bei vorsichtiger Solvolyse der Erdalkalipernitride Me3N4 (Me = Ca, Sr, Ba) entstehen neben Ammoniak und Stickstoff auch Hydrazin und Wasserstoff. Beim Bariumpernitrid konnten auf diese Weise etwa 20% des Gesamtstickstoffs zu Hydrazin umgesetzt werden. Die Bildung des Hydrazins durch Aminierung von Ammoniak oder Disproportionierung von Diimin darf dabei ausgeschlossen werden. Die Analysen zeigen, daß auch das am ehesten der Zusammensetzung Me3N4 entsprechende Bariumpernitrid eine geringe Menge Wasserstoff enthält.
