2,5-Bis-[carboxymethyl-(β-hydroxy-ethyl)-amino] terephtalic acid (H4A) forms in solutions of Ni(II) and Co(II) salts complexes of the compositions MeIIH2A, MeIIHA-, MeA2-, and Me2A. From the stability and acid constants, assumptions on the structure of these complexes are made. The bonding of the hydrogen ions within the two coordination spheres of the acid is disscused by comparison with complexes of other, aromatic as well as hydroaromatic, amino polycarboxylic acids.

2.5-Bis-[carboxymethyl-(β-hydroxy-äthyl)-amino]-terephthalsäure (I, H4A) bildet in Lösung mit Nickel(II)- und Kobalt(II)-Ionen Komplexe der Zusammensetzung MeIIH2A, MeIIHA-, MeA2- und Me2A. Auf Grund der Stabilitätskonstanten und der Säureexponenten sind Aussagen über die Struktur dieser Komplexe möglich. Vergleiche mit anderen Aminopolycarbonsäuren zeigen, daß der aromatische Kern die Bindung der Wasserstoffionen in den beiden Koordinationssphären der Verbindung I stark beeinflußt. Hingegen verhält sich bei der Komplexbildung die Verbindung I analog strukturell ähnlichen Liganden, in denen die beiden Koordinationssphären nicht durch einen aromatischen, sondern durch einen hydroaromatischen Rest verknüpft sind.
