On treating the K-monophosphates with a mixture 1:1 of acetic acid and its anhydride at 90°C pure potassium-trimetaphosphate K3[P3O9] is formed, in a modification (II) which is unknown up till now. In consequence of the isomorphism of the K3[P3O9] (II) with the β-modification of the β-(KAsO3)x and the corresponding arsenatophosphates β-(K(As, P)O3)x it is concluded that these compounds are salts with the anions [As3O9]3-, [As2PO9]3-, [AsP2O9]3-. This is proved by the fact that these substances through solution in water are hydrolysed only into [H2AsO4]-, [H2P2O7]2-, and [H2PO4]- and not into [H2P3O10]3- or higher polyphosphate anions.

Beim Behandeln von Kaliummonophosphaten mit einem 1:1-Gemisch aus Essig-säure und Essigsäureanhydrid bei 90°C bildet sich reines Kaliumtrimetaphosphat K3[P3O9] (II) in einer bisher nicht bekannten Modifikation. Aus der Isomorphie des K3[P3O9] (II) mit der β-Form des (KAsO3)x bzw. den entsprechenden Arsenatophosphaten (K(As, P)O3)x wird geschlossen, daß dieses Verbindungen sind mit den Trimetaanionen [As3O9]3-, [As2PO9]3- und [AsP2O9]3-. Ein Beweis dafür ergibt sich aus dem Befund, daß diese Substanzen beim Lösen in Wasser nur [H2AsO4]--, [H2P2O7]2-- und [H2PO4]-- neben [P3O9]3--, aber keine [H2P3O10]3-- Anionen und solche höherer Polyphosphate liefern.
