The decomposition of cobaltcarbonyl Co2(CO)8 in solution containing various complexforming species was studied. The over-all-rate of the decomposition can be described by the equation R = Σ k1 [X1][Co2(CO)8].According to this equation the rate-determining step is a reaction of the carbonyl molecule with complex-forming species in the solution. On the basis of kinetic measurements a possible mechanism is proposed, which fullfills all the experimental results.

Der Zerfall des Kobaltcarbonyls Co2(CO)8 wurde in Lösungen, die verschiedene Komplexbildner enthielten, verfolgt. Der Zerfall folgt der Gleichung R = Σ k1 [X1][Co2(CO)8].Der geschwindigkeitsbestimmende Schritt ist also eine Reaktion des Carbonyls mit dem Komplexbildner X1. Auf Grund der kinetischen Messungen wurde ein mögliches Reaktionsschema vorgeschlagen, das allen experimentellen Resultaten entspricht.
