Synthesis of 7,8-DidehydrodesmosterolThe synthesis of 7,8-didehydrodesmosterol (18) starting from 22-hydroxy-23,24-dinorchol-4-en-3-one (1) is reported. Compounds 2-11 and 14-17 are intermediates of a 16-step sequence. The ylide 13 - a new reagent for the homologisation of carbonyl compounds - plays an important part in the final steps of the synthesis.

Eine Synthese des 7,8-Didehydrodesmosterols (18), ausgehend von 22-Hydroxy-23,24-dinorchol-4-en-3-on (1) wird beschrieben. In der 16stufigen Sequenz treten die Zwischenprodukte 2-11 und 14-17 auf. Das Phosphor-ylid 13 spielt dabei als neues Homologisierungsreagens für Carbonylverbindungen in der Abschlußphase der Synthese (11 → 14 → → 17) eine wichtige Rolle.
