This monograph shows the results of studies of the laws of water circulation and the water balance of the world. Data on water storage of the earth are given as well as on the areal distribution of water resources and periods of natural recharge of some types of water resources. Computations are presented of the water balance of large river basins, lakes, reservoirs, regions, continents, oceans and the whole globe. Fresh-water resources of the world and their time and space variations are evaluated. On the basis of new data, including areas whose hydrometeorological factors have been poorly gauged, the "Atlas of World Water Balance" was prepared to accompany the monograph. All maps published are original. The monograph is intended for specialists engaged in water-balance computations and water resources development and conservation.
