Description:
Atmospheric properties of Saturn's rings as measured by an ultraviolet spectrometer onboard the Mariner Jupiter/Saturn probe are studied. Measurements were made of planetary atmospheric radiation, resonance scattered by atomic or molecular constituents, solar spectra, and the absorption characteristics of the atmosphere. Measurements were made in the 400 to 1600 A region.
