Notes:
In studying the stability of fibrin clots formed from native plasma, in 1% monochloroacetic acid, it has been found that at a given temperature there is a variation among individuals. Clots formed from normal young adult females are more stable than those from males, but those formed from females taking contraceptive medication are significantly more stable than those of males or females not on contraceptives. Increased fibrin clot stability in females on oral contraceptive medication is not related to the increased fibrinogen level or to the level of fibrin-stabilizing factor (Factor XIII) in such individuals.
