Notes:
An estimate of the narrow sense heritability of resistance to Alternaria dauci was obtained for the open-pollinated carrot cultivar ‘Brasília’. The estimate, based on plot means of 96 half-sib families was 0.4032 ± 0.1672, which may be considered in the medium-low range. Considering this result, it is concluded that recurrent selection based on half-sib progeny tests, will be more effective than simple phenotypic recurrent selection in increasing the resistance level of ‘Brasília’ to A. daucci.
