We have designed a 1.5-GeV storage-ring system for a new synchrotron-radiation project at Hiroshima. The storage ring has an achromatic structure with six dispersion-free straight sections for insertion devices. Superconducting horizontal wigglers are used to generate hard x ray. The multipole field of the wiggler causes no problem on beam dynamics. In spite of its small size, 100 m in circumference, the ring can generate excellent synchrotron radiation in a wide wavelength region from VUV up to hard x rays.
