Notes:
The relativistic Euler equations for a compressible perfect fluid are derived from a variational principle based on angular momentum flux. Both the stationary and time-dependent cases are considered, and the variational principle is satisfactory in the sense that it is based on Eulerian variables. A comment is made for dissipative fluids.
