Notes:
Describes how radio telemetry can interface with process control systemssuch as supervisory control and data acquisition [SCADA] and distributedcontrol systems [DCS] greatly increasing their power and efficiency. Outlinesthe basis of radio telemetry, the behaviour of electromagnetic waves, frequency and wavelengths. Uses the water industry as an example of the useof a large scale and sophisticated SCADA system to provide date collectionand control links over a large area. Concludes that the versatility of radiotelemetry coupled with its cost-effectiveness means that thistechnology can help to expand and improve communications in an increasingnumber of industries.
