Description / Table of Contents: Zusammenfassung.
Notes: Summary.  Infrared spectroscopic, X-ray diffraction, thermogravimetric and microscopic studies, atomic spectrometry, and ion chromatography trace elemental analyses of insoluble mineral crystals produced in a synthetic phosphate-containing medium during cultivation of the soil bacterium Azospirillum brasilense (strain Sp245) were carried out. The structure and chemical composition of the mineral, including the entrapped metal cations, the distribution of trace impurities of biologically important cations between the cultivation medium and the solid phase formed therein, and some aspects related to biomineralization, are considered and discussed.
