    Description / Table of Contents: Summary During a field experiment about urban climate in Freiburg, FRG, vertical temperature profiles were measured by a tethered ballon at the border of the city. Similarly the heat island was estimated by thermograph records. Between the lapse rate and the heat island a correlation is found, meaning that the city is warmer than the rural environment during stable temperature gradients and colder during unstable stratification. For an undisturbed weather period in autumn the mixing height over the city is also estimated.[/p]
    Notes: Zusammenfassung Im Rahmen einer stadtklimatologischen Untersuchung in Freiburg im Breisgau wurden Fesselballonaufstiege zur Messung des vertikalen Temperaturgradienten am Stadtrand durchgeführt. Gleichzeitig konnte aus Thermographenmessungen die Intensität der städtischen Wärmeinsel bestimmt werden. Es besteht eine Korrelation zwischen beiden Größen in dem Sinne, daß die Stadt bei stabiler Schichtung deutlich wärmer als das Umland ist, bei labiler Schichtung kühler. Ferner wird aus den Messungen auf die Mischungsschichthöhe über der Stadt während einer Hochdruckwetterlage geschlossen.
