Summary An iodometric method is given for determining halogens in organic materials. The halogen set free during the combustion is brought into reaction with solid silver iodide. The iodine thus released is absorbed in sodium hydroxide, oxidized to iodate, and finally titrated with thiosulfate. The method is especially good for determining traces.
Abstract:
Résumé Description d'une méthode iodométrique pour le dosage des halogènes dans les substances organiques. L'halogène libéré par la combustion réagit sur de l'iodure d'argent solide. L'iode libéré est recueilli dans une solution de soude, oxydé en iodate et finalement titré par du thiosulfate. La méthode est particulièrement appropriée au dosage de traces.

Zusammenfassung Es wird eine jodometrische Methode zur Bestimmung der Halogene in organischen Substanzen beschrieben. Das bei der Verbrennung in Freiheit gesetzte Halogen wird mit festem Silberjodid in Reaktion gebracht. Das dabei freigewordene Jod wird in Natronlauge absorbiert, zu Jodat oxydiert und schließlich mit Thiosulfat titriert. Das Verfahren eignet sich besonders zur Spurenbestimmung.
