Summary The catalytic adsorptive stripping voltammetric determination of chromium using diethylenetriaminepentaacetic acid (DTPA) is only possible when chromium(III) is preliminarily oxidized to chromium(VI) which can be accomplished by UV-irradiation of the oxygen saturated solution at pH 6.0–7.0. A chromium(III)-chromium(VI) speciation can be performed in the range 10−10 mol/l upto 10−6 mol/l employing the coprecipitation of chromium(III) with Al(OH)3. The interference of other metal ions was also studied.
