Abstract We analyze theoretically the resonant frequencies of standing surface waves produced by second sound in4He. In particular, we show that an empirical heat transfer coefficient involved in a recently proposed boundary condition can be related to Kapitza resistance. We also calculate the heat flux within the helium and deduce that the height of the surface waves is strongly frequency dependent.
