Notes: Conclusions 1. Below 950°, arsenic has little effect on the tendency to austenite grain growth, but the effect increases considerably at higher temperatures. This should be taken into account in selecting the heat treatment. 2. Alloying of steel 16G2S with vanadium lowers the tendency to austenite grain growth in the temperature range investigated due to the inhibition of boundary movements by dispersed precipitates. 3. Arsenic lowers the activation energy of austenite grain boundary migration, and also the surface energy of the grain boundaries.
