Abstract The authors examine the effect of the nature of the solvent on the rheological behavior of cellulose acetate solutions and the time-temperature dependence of the strength of films obtained from them. The viscosity of the solutions and the life of the films were found to vary with the nature of the solvent. As the viscosity of the solutions increases, so does the life of the films. The nature of the solvent affects the coefficient γ, which depends on the supermolecular structure of the material.
