Rates of oxidation of cyclohexanol by dimethyl sulphoxide in conjunction both with acetic anhydride and with dicyclohexylcarbodiimide have been measured with variation of both temperature and pressure. Activation volumes were found to be -25 and -34 cm3 mol-1, respectively, and the absence of an α—d PKIE was noted. The reaction mechanism is discussed in the context of these values.
