Notes: 1. Für die Reduktion von 1 Mol H2PtCl6, sind, falls hinreichend Alkali zugegen ist, in der Kälte 2 Mol Formaldehyd erforderlich (Oxydation zu Formiat), in heißen Lösungen genügt 1 Mol Formaldehyd (Oxydation zu Carbonat). Steigende Mengen von Formaldehyd und Alkali beschleunigen den Reduktionsvorgang. Für stöchiometrische Messungen eignet sich der Formaldehyd nicht, weil Nebenreaktionen stören (CANNIZZARO'sche Reaktion).
