Description / Table of Contents: VOCl2 addition compounds react in acetonitrile with [NHx(CH3)4-x]Cl forming [NHx(CH3)4-x]2 VOCl4 · CH3CN (x = 1, 2, 3, 4) which yield on thermal decomposition the solvate-free tetrachloro complexes. [N(et)4]2VOCl4 and (NH4)2 VOCl4 have been prepared from acetonitrile, and M2IVOCl4 with MI = K, Rb, Cs from SO2 solutions. Their electronic and IR spectra are investigated and discussed.
