Description / Table of Contents: By heating a mixture of Hg2J2, Hg2J2 (in excess) and arsenic or red phosphorus at 210-230°C, the compounds Hg3As2J4(3) (reddish violet) and Hg3P2J4 (yellow) were prepared. They are resistent against acids, but are quickly decomposed by bases. The orthorhombic cells (see „Inhaltsübersicht“) contain 18 formula units. Both compounds show faults in their lattices, therefore the c parameter is uncertain and the true cell probably of lower symmetry.
