Description / Table of Contents: CdO, CdS, ZnO, ZnS, ZnSe, ZnTe, GaAs, Ge, NbO and Nb12O29 were prepared as crystals by chemical transport reactions in an iodine-containing atmosphere. The iodine content in the host crystal was labelled and measured with 131J. In the case of CdS, there is the following equation: For the series ZnO, ZnS, ZnSe, ZnTe it can be demonstrated that the concentration of iodine inserted depends on the position of the transport equilibrium (i. e. of the ZnJ2 pressure) and on the radius of the anion of the host crystal. Further, the insertion of iodine becomes less as the number of empty cation sites increases.
